I’m not a gardener anymore but I’ve noticed that pansies don’t seem to mind being snowed upon.
As to criticism of writing, while I’m just as capable of it as anyone else, I didn’t notice a liberal use of “I” in your Sunday letter. In fact I expect it because you are talking about your feelings and experiences. At age 73, I could identify with you, as you bought the castor oil, and with the stoic old(er) lady, as she hung on to her counter and her life.
Mmm…home made doughnuts!

Potatoes grow well in NW ND. 😊 Sandra should re read your article and search herself for better understanding. I don’t believe your use of I is in error. Alternatively using ‘one’ would maybe be proper but sounds so stiff. There will always be critics.

Petunia are pretty hardy in Calgary, Alberta.
I love your Sunday letters – very inspirational and thought provoking.
I very new to Hooking and like that you have your own and encourage our own way of hooking. Many of the ladies at the Fiber Art Guild I belong to like each row to be perfect., which is fine, I do prefer a bit of mixture of texture and not a perfect row. Thank you for inspiring me to be my own creative person.

Hello Deanne and crew, it’s always a pleasure to listen to your stories Deanne and your Sunday Letters. Your observations are always so meaningful and I enjoy taking a few moments to reflect on your well written words.
In Ontario ( at my house) we have planted marigolds, inpatients, and begonias . These seem to do well in our weather in Southern Ontario. We have them in the front yard and on the front porch in planter boxes , pots and hanging baskets. I like bringing in some red as well as yellow and orange to keep it feeling bright and sunny. Our seat cushions on the outdoor seats are red too so that ties it all together.
