This is my first online winter course in many years and I am excited to share it with you. Last week Angela and I were inspired by our new studio jute bag to create a new online course. Joy on the Horizon celebrates the beauty of friendship in life and the importance of riding the waves together. This design is all about friendship and connection and the importance of being good to each other as we go through life together. This class is a reflective look into my personal story and how that blends with my creative life. I am excited to share this with you. 

In this step by step  course you will learn about:

• creating details in hooked rugs

• using your background to reshape foreground images
• choosing colours based on the previous colours you used
• accentuating by using texture
• hooking small faces, hands and legs
• creating small flowers
• hoking small flowers, sunflowers, roses and other posies

• creating and colour planning borders
• hooking details on people's clothing
• creating graphic waves
• hooking the sea
• the secrets of hooking backgrounds on borders
• the importance of friendship and community. Throughout this course I will talk about friendship and its meaning in life and the importance of reaching out to connect with others.
• two exclusive Live Hook Ins with a Q&A that will help us build community and connection.

The Course Includes:

• 3 weeks of lessons, 7 hours of video lessons and Deanne hooks the rug from start to finish
• Two Exclusive Live Friendship Hook ins for class members are included with the course where Deanne will be there to answer questions and help and we will break down into small groups where you will have the opportunity to meet and make friends with rug hookers from Across North America and beyond.

Who is this course for?

It is for anyone who wants to hook this rug from beginner to intermediate. It goes through each element of the rug  step by step so you will have really clear instructions and lots of tips along the way.

What materials will I need?

You will need your hook and your frame and a device to watch the course on.

If you order the complete kit you will have everything you need. 

If you order just the pattern, you will need the wool to complete it. We will provide a list of the wools Deanne used.

If you order just the course and the downloadable pattern you will also need backing to draw your pattern on as well as the materials to hook, your frame and hook.

When does the class begin?

The first session starts on March 3, and we will send three more lessons  before March 17.

Do I have to go to classes at a certain time?

No. You can do the course at your own pace, on your own time, logging into the website when ever you want.

How does the course work?

You just log in to your account at www.hookingrugs.com and your course will be there for you. We now have a new course model and you access your courses just by logging into your account. If you have any problems at all you can email us info@hookingrugs.com and we will walk you through it.

The material will remain up on the website for you indefinitely. You can access it anytime.
