I am an idea maker in my own creative business. I have spent thirty two years creating my business in an artful, soulful way and I want to help you do the same. I love to work with people and help them find the good in themselves that they can then put into action to create a profitable business that they love.

I can help you make your creative business profitable, fulfilling and a true source of joy. I want you to benefit from my decades of experience and expertise. I have been there, I have grown a successful career and business. I created a life that brought together my passions, my artistic ability with a great business structure that has given me time and freedom to live the life I want. 

I began this business in a trunk in my living room filled with hooked rugs, and now we have a 4000 square foot vibrant studio. My business is a brick and mortar boutique, an international e-commerce presence shipping hundreds of orders a week, a line of patterns and kits, memberships and subscriptions (both physical and digital), a tourist attraction, and a fantastic growing community.

As we do all of this I continue to work as an artist and writer, and my job is to inspire our community, our team, always helping the business grow.

I know about branding and marketing, and how to deliver it with authenticity and love. I am serious about that and I can help you see your way to do the same. And I want to. I want to work with business owners to help them create community, and deliver joy to their customers. When we do this we become profitable, and with those profits we can change our story. We can in fact, write the story we want for ourselves.

An idea can be worth $20 or $200,000 depending on how you develop it. One of my favourite things to do is help others generate, develop and carry out their ideas in a way that works for them, and helps their business grow.

I will show you how to synthesize creativity and good business. The most successful businesses are those that harness their creativity to delight their customers and provide the finest experiences. Teaching and Creative Coaching for Rug Hookers and Artists

Over the years I have been a mentor and a teacher for small groups and classes and now I am ready to work one on  and provide individual creative coaching so that you can find and develop your inner artist for a more creative life.

I am happy to teach you everything I know about how to make your work unmistakably art.  When you learn how to hook rugs a world opens up for you. You begin to see things differently. I can help you take yourself into this new space with deep commitment and intention. We will work together to grow your passion for rug hooking into an art form that lets you express your story, your time and place and how you see the world.

Private Workshops Lead by Deanne

Do you want to have a private workshop to learn how to hook a particular rug or more about rug hooking? Perhaps you want to learn how to hook the sea, or design hooked rugs, or the many other classes I have taught over the years. Private workshops are available for groups of all sizes.

We can arrange private rug hooking or creativity and team building workshops for your group or staff lead by Deanne. They can be designed to include all supplies, or just instruction and can be delivered in person or via zoom.  Rug Hooking and Art is a metaphor for life, we learn so much when we add creativity. My classes are built around using rug hooking to express ideas, understanding the value of making, and how art changes us. 

It is just one stitch to begin, but there is a world of colour, texture and design beyond that one stitch that offers powerful transformation.  George Orwell said, "Cease to use your hands and you have lopped off a huge chunk of your consciousness." My workshops are based on the belief that using our hands is a powerful way of leading ourselves to self understanding. In them we bring together creativity, discovery,  rug hooking, and the importance of living a good life.

About Deanne Fitzpatrick

Deanne Fitzpatrick is an accomplished artist, entrepreneur, published author of nine books about creativity and rug hooking. She is a transformative rug hooker who owns and operates a studio in Amherst, Nova Scotia and at www.hookingrugs.com

Through her website and her books she has grown a dynamic community of rug hookers from all over the world and has helped elevate rug hooking into an art. She creates everyday in her studio, hooking rugs, writing and drawing.   

Deanne's work can be found in private and public collections including The Canadian Museum of History, The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia Art Bank, and The Provincial Rooms Gallery in Newfoundland.

She has received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Mount Saint Vincent University and has recently been awarded the prestigious Order of Canada, being recognized for her work in the advancement of rug hooking as an art form

Coaching, Speaking or Workshop Package  $8000

Please note coaching packages include ten one hour sessions.
