When Deanne asked me to hook the patterns of the month I jumped with glee at the chance!
I am a very lucky gal to have to opportunity to look around the studio and pick my favourite colours and textures to use and show you, perhaps, a not-so-traditional version of your monthly pattern.
It can be slightly intimidating looking at a blank canvas that hasn't been hooked before and trying to come up with a great colour scheme so this is my version. Initially I had intended for it to be lighter but I found a nice pendleton shirt here in the studio and I pulled some of the colours from that..
I decided That I didn't want all of the starfish the same colour so I thought, "why not pastels?"
I used some light lavender wool fabric, pale green fabric and yarn and a few strands of sparkly blue mohair held together. There is also so variegated soft green and ivory sari silk tucked in there as well. In the background I used a lot of #6 wool strips cut from the plaid shirt and I also incorporated a blue curly fleece that we had here and hooked "waves" through the background.
This was my result
As I said in the beginning, I had intended the background to be lighter but the shirt I used had a life of its own. It is fun and imperfect...just like me!
Drop by and have some tea and homemade oatcakes.
