The Year In Landscape is a four-part workshop series that celebrates the publication of Deanne’s new book (Hooking the Landscape, Schiffer 2025) that explores the strength and beauty of hooking the landscape. Each session includes a downloadable seasonal pattern inspired by the original rug, a live video workshop with detailed instruction and Q and A, and creative tools to help you capture your own personal landscape. Whether you’re a long-time rug hooker or just beginning your journey, this course will help you create a meaningful body of work inspired by the world around you.

Session III: 

April 25, 2026 - The Warmth of Winter Stillness

Theme: Strength and Renewal.

Focus: Fresh greens, moons and the magical landscape.

Techniques: Bringing in new growth, layering blues and creams to reflect gentle change.

Creative Perspective: “What begins again in you each spring?”


Materials: Crisp fresh greens, blues, creams; exploring playfulness and renewal.

What’s Included:

• A live video workshop with Deanne, packed with teaching, tips and strategies (recordings will be available). Plus creative suggestions, activities and prompts. 

• Includes a downloadable rug hooking pattern (PDF, ready to print or trace and can be any size you wish). 

• Access to a private online community where you can post your progress and ask questions as you work on each rug (optional).
