When I look at this rug I want to go into it. It invites me to sail down the river. To take my chances and go somewhere I have never been. It makes me trust that whatever is beyond it is ok.
What is really interesting is that while I was hooking this rug I was thinking about faith a lot. Someone had told me they were an atheist and it took me by surprise. I have lots of friends who are atheists and lots who believe.
This one took me by surprise.
His revelation shook me a bit.
It shook my own faith.
That is faith though. Because there is no proof, you naturally question. It had been a question since the beginning. In questioning it grows.
It is only weeks later after looking alt this rug that I see what was going on here. It amazes me really. So often when I design it comes from my subconscious. I have no idea what is going on. It emerges. I follow the lead. It comes out. I learn.
This is art. I love it. I learn about myself. I grow. I change. It all happens through my hook.
