Yesterday when I opened a bag of sea soil it was full of red ants and one got on me and I felt like it was biting me under my shirt in different places and I kept trying to smush it.

yes the merlin app by cornell university, you can download it for free. it has a great sound recording id, so when a bird calls/sings it will identify it for you. i actually use while i am hooking outside which is where i do most of my hooking this time of the year. this way i am slowly learning to identify birds by their call, called birding by ear. feel better

What a beautiful space to hook in, surrounded by nature and it’s lovely sounds.

Merlin is an app to help identify birds. It can id by the sounds birds make.

I LOVE fireflies!! We’re watching them right now too. Dragonflies are another one of my favorites…
There is a new book, by Leslie Knight and Yvonne Iten-Scott called “Magnificent Bugs In Rugs” and illustrated by 45 rug hookers from around the globe. It’s a great book. I was able to be apart of a small group to see all of the 45 Bug Rugs. It was fantastic!!
In 2019 we raised Monarch butterflies from caterpillar to completion-ready for release. It was great fun. The grands loved it.

The hat clip is called “Wingman” – and for the most part, it does work to keep horse flies and deer flies off of you. Ours are bad in Ontario right now.

Tiny Houses mat is looking lovely….
Enjoy your day…..Cheers!

I was trying to make blackberry jelly today, using up last years’ blackberries from my yard. I noticed there was a dead fly on my window kitchen sill. I went to brush him away into the sink when I noticed my friend the jumping spider that lives in my window was actually having a meal on that bug, so I let him be. He was munching down for quite awhile.

That spider must of been hungry!
