Hi sweet Deanne.
I love your outfit and you look like you are thinner. What’s the trick? I loved watching you drawing the patterns. You are so, so talented my dear. I especially love the woman in the boat and the fish. That should definitely be a pattern! My Mid west fare from good ol’ Cedar Rapids, Iowa is (in the summer) thick steaks on the grill, sweetcorn and potato salad. I make the best potato salad with dried mustard and vinegar. In the fall/winter it is squash, pot roast and mashed potatoes. Some times I make a roux with the scrapings and liquid from the crock pot. Love you much! Janet ps-I didn’t get to watch your live until late Friday evening.

I loved watching you draw the patterns on the rugs. You do it with such confidence and flair. I also love how your tulips are coming out. Salmon on the grill is a favorite in the Pacific Northwest.

Hello! I smiled all the way through the live until you got to the food description part. I dont want to offend or judge but yikes, that boiled dinner/ Jiggs dinner sounds iffy at best! Then I got to thinking about my mennonite roots and the cold fruit soup we eat. You are the bright sparks in my Thursday! I loved hearing Angela share as well….oh Deanne, I wanted to ask you about Newfoundland. Gerda and I will travel therr in June for our first time. Is the area you grew up in a destination we should see? Is there. Deanne museum? Is the house you grew up in still standing? Please advise, thanks!

Deanne Fitzpatrick Rug Hooking Studio replied:
Judi, I grew up in Freshwater, Placentia Bay. The house is long gone now. The area is very beautiful. Especially the views from Castle Hill, a historic Fort there. The area is one and a half hours from St. John, you can drive the Irish loop from Placentia through the bird sanctuary in St. Marys. Beautiful place.
