Deanne, Braiding Sweetgrass is a fantastic book. I think you would really enjoy reading it. Robin Wall Kimmerer is a member of the Potowatomie tribe, lives and teaches in upstate New York (I think). She has such an intimate relationship with nature and when she writes or speaks about nature’s creatures, she draws you in with her knowledge and her stories of Native American mythology. It is one of my most favorite books. I’ve listened to her speak online twice and I think you could find these online as well. Her other book, Gathering Moss gets lots less attention but I"ve started reading it and love it as well.
