Creativity never gets old. It gets richer. It gets more vibrant. It gets wiser.
The past several years I have been thinking, writing and talking to people a great deal about creativity and aging. I am entering a new stage in life. My children have grown and are busy making lives of their own. There are losses that come with aging but there is also possibility when we approach with creativity and intention.
Hooking rugs is my creative outlet. It is the way I express myself and I believe that in the coming years it will become more and more important to me as a means of self expression. It is how I share my joy and how I work through my thoughts and struggles.
This is a course about exploring creativity and making meaning in our lives as as we age. In this combination of live and recorded video you will learn about self expression, design and invigorating your creativity as you age.
It is a course about growing into ourselves through creating beauty in a lasting and meaningful way as we enter this new stage of our lives.
We will hear from artists and creatives about aging well and bringing beauty into our lives on a daily basis.
The Five Components of this Class:
1. We will each hook a self portrait rug of your own design...don't worry I will lead you right through the process in a live class. If you cannot make the class it will be recorded for you. You don't need to know how to draw, and you do not need a lot of experience. I will guide you through it and give you the tools you need.
2. Included with the class is a series of writings and about aging and creativity. In our second live class we'll take the time to process these and meet with other participants to talk about our own creativity at this stage of our lives and hear about theirs. It will be a chance to meet, hook, and discuss aging and creativity with people from all over.
3.There will be an illustrated workbook for you use as you consider your own creativity and this precious stage in your life.
4. The Creativity Never Gets old Video Series includes twenty lessons, interview and stories on Creativity and Aging.
5.In our third live class we will meet again to hook, see the progress in our rugs and share them with each other. This will be a time for question and answer about your rugs, creativity and aging and a chance to share your thoughts and ideas with each other.
All live classes will be recorded so you can watch them anytime you like.
Through a series of videos, a work book, and three live zooms we will explore creativity and aging and making the very best of the years we have left to be inspired, to inspire, and to create with love, intention and joy.
Essentially this is a course about making a life that will remain rich and filled with creativity and beauty as we age.

Who is this Creativity Never Gets Old course for?
It is for anyone who is interested in the importance and joy of creativity as we age.
What if I can’t draw?
Can’t Draw? It does not matter. I will give you instruction and the tools you need that will help you create a design to hook during the class
What materials will I need?
You will need at least one sketch book, rug backing such as burlap or linen, pencils, a ruler, black sharpie markers, an additional coloured sharpie marker, and your rug hooking supplies.
Are materials included in the cost?
Materials are not included in the cost of the course. You can use the materials and supplies you have on hand or you can order what you need from our site. There is no particular package for this course because we will all be hooking our own unique project.
When does the class begin?
It starts on November 1.
Do I have to go to classes at a certain time?
No. You can do the course at your own pace, on your own time, logging into the website when ever you want. We will keep the course available on the website indefinitely so you can come back to it again and again.
However if you want to attend there will be three live zooms for this class. You can come to them live or watch them recorded.
How does the course work?
You just log in to the Course Website with your password. When you purchase the course you will receive a password and link to the class.
The three live classes will be delivered over zoom but recordings of them will be available if you cannot make them.
The material will remain up on the website for you indefinitely. You can access it anytime. Once you take the course the lessons are yours to keep for as long
as you like.
