Oatmeal biscuits with maple butter
I was walking down the road and thought I should make oatmeal cookies. I do that on my walks. Think about what I am going to eat to make up for the walking. I decided they would have too much sugar. No cookies.
So then it dawned on me . What about biscuits , oatmeal biscuits cause there is not much sugar in biscuits. So I came home a googled around and made up this recipe from three or four I found online. I just had two and now need to go for another walk this afternoon.
1/2 cup Shortening, 2 cups flour, 3tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt , 2 tbsp brown sugar. Mix together with a fork, cutting up the Shortening. Add in 1 cup of oats and mix. Take 1/4 cup blend cream together 1/2 cup milk and mix together well.
Put the dough on the counter and cut into circles. I have an old biscuit cutter that I picked up at a sale years ago with a red wooden knob but a glass will do.
Bake at 375 for 15 minutes. Serve with butter and maybe even a bit of maple syrup.

Blend cream is just coffee cream.
You can use crisco.
Is that whipping cream and also 2% milk? Can I uses Crisco got the shortening?
I am at a loss. I don’t understand this last sentence: Take 1/4 cup blend cream together 1/2 cup milk and mix together well.
Am I mixing 1/4 cream (what %fat) with 1/2 cup milk?
Visiting NS for the first time, I discovered oat cakes and have not recovered. I dream of these. I am hoping that these biscuits will come close.

Biscuit suggestion…………..for the most tender biscuits, roll the dough out ONCE only and cut into fairly equal pieces with a knife . By not handling the dough too much ( by not using a cutter and re-rolling dough,) you get the most tender biscuits possible.
